YouTube queen, Ipsy co-founder, entrepreneur - is there anything Michelle Phan can't do?! While she is slaying the world, online and off, she has also created the Mecca of all beauty events: Generation Beauty, an opportunity for content creators and makeup addicts alike to get up close and personal with their favourite brands and YouTubers.

I was lucky enough to attend last weekends expo in L.A and I am here to share some of my favourite brands, new products and moments from this must attend event!

OUAI
Hair stylist to the stars Jen Atkin has just launched a range of hair care products called Ouai (pronounced 'way'). Because my hair lacks volume I wanted to try the Texturizing Hair Spray to give it some life and boy did it deliver! I sprayed some on my roots and it was perfect for adding instant body plus it smelt amazing!

Jouer Cosmetics
This is a brand I was not familiar with but after hearing nothing but great things from Crystal I was looking forward to trying their products out! They were testing the Luminizing Moisture Tint and Matte Moisture Tint and it was so hard to choose a favourite because they were both so amazing in their own way!

The luminizing tint adds a gorgeous all over glow to your skin without an oily or overly hydrated feeling. I personally think this product is perfection for brides and it will definitely make you glow from the inside out! The matte moisture tint provided a fantastic coverage which blends like a dream, drys to a smooth matte finish in seconds and can be layered for additional coverage!

I also got their Highlighter in 'Champagne' which is a beautiful creamy formula that will perfectly illuminate your look and one of their new Liquid Lipsticks in 'Praline' which is beautiful metallic shade and super long lasting! I put it on at 3pm and by dinner at 9pm it had not budged! The official launch date of the six new shades will be approximately March 2016.

This brand is definitely going to secure a permanent space in my kit!

NUDESTIX
Known for their amazing bronzing and sculpting pencils I was excited to see that NUDESTIX had released a new range of Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencils! From red-hot sexy to the perfect nude pout, I struggled to pick a favourite from their 8 new sensational shades. I decided to choose 'Belle', a pretty plum nude that glides on, blends beautifully and while it is matte it is non-drying so it keeps my lips super sexy and smooth!

Milani Cosmetics
I have only tried one of Milani's blushes but when I saw that Priscilla Ono was doing a meet and greet there I lined my ass up! But I'm also glad I did because I got to try some of their primers which erase your pores but come in a couple of finishes to suit your skin type and style!

Prime Perfection is hydrating while Prime Shield is the mattifying formula that diminishes your pores and creates a silky smooth finish! Plus they are super affordable so everybody wins!

As a regular viewer on Snapchat I can definitely say Priscilla was even more fabulous in real life! She was so sweet, happy to chat, snap selfies and her makeup was beyond on point!

Benefit Cosmetics
I feel like every beauty babe owns, or at some stage has owned, the Hoola Bronzing Powder by Benefit Cosmetics. This best selling, cult product has secured its place in our hearts so when I spotted their Hawaiian themed Benefit booth complete with Hoola Hunks I was curious to see what they had in store! Now when I hear the words liquid illuminator or bronzer my heart automatically skips a beat so I was so excited to try Benefits new liquid bronzer 'Dew The Hoola'.

This product can be used for contouring and warming up the face and when applied with the new Hoola Bronzing and Contouring Brush, which evenly applies and blends, created the perfect summer glow!

This will be released in the States on February 26th 2016 and is coming soon to Australia.

GEN BEAUTY TIPS
The event is fantastic and the perfect chance to discover new products and network with other beauty creators but there are definitely a few tips I wish I had known before attending!

1. Be Prepared
You will be on your feet and waiting in lines all day so be sure to either wear shoes that you know will last the test of time or get some party feet to save your soles!

2. Swag Bag Collection
Each attendee gets a swag bag but depending on if you're a beauty creator or general admission will determine which type of bag you get. The event wasn't very well signed so if you're unsure of where you're meant to collect your swag bag be sure to ask one of the helpful staff to show you the way, it will definitely save you time!

3. You Will Have A Fan Girl Moment
There's nothing like seeing your fave beauty YouTuber IRL but with all the meet and greets you may even get a sneaky selfie and a chance to tell them how much you admire them! I only attended one meet and greet to see Priscilla Ono at Milani (the lines to see the YouTubers were crazy!) until the end of day two to see Desi Perkins, LustreLux and Chrisspy but unfort they had to cut the line off as there wasn't enough time. BUT when I saw Chrisspy leaving and heading my way to leave I knew I couldn't just let her walk by without asking for a picture. Her security said no and tried to whisk her away so you can imagine my excitement when she said yes and took the time for a selfie. She was extremely sweet and of course even more beautiful in person and I was so happy I got to leave Gen Beauty with my fan girl moment.

4. Don't Forget Your Passport (To Beauty)
When you register either at the event or the night before you will receive a lanyard with your admission badge and a fold out paper with a map of where the brands will be set up and small perforated coupons with each brands name on it. These coupons are your passport to beauty and are used to redeem samples from each of the vendors.

I would recommend making a game plan because some brands ran out of samples quicker than others so if you have a favourite brand that is non negotiable I suggest going to them first and braving the line and crowds to bag your beauty sample! Some products are full size while others are sample size but it is a great way to try and discover new products!

5. Bring Your Beauty Babes!
My Gen Beauty experience would not have been the same without my girl squad! Between vlogging, fan girling over our fave beauty tubers and testing the latest products we had the best time and if I could do it all over again with them I would in a heartbeat!

Crystal AKA Sometimes Glam
Amanda AKA I'm Fashionably Late
Shana AKA The Painted Lips Project

Stay tuned for Part 2 of my Gen Beauty experience where I share my swag bag haul of all the amazing goodies I picked up!
