Blogger Spotlight Series: Meet Face Of SJW
Welcome to my new series: Blogger Spotlight where I profile my favourite beauty bloggers and get to know them, their blogging journey, fave products and advice for budding bloggers through a quick Q&A.
This week the blogger spotlight is shining brightly on Sarah of Face of SJW.
I first met Sarah at a Bloggers United Event which she co-hosted and as well as being a lovely person I loved how open she was about sharing her blogging journey and inspiring fellow bloggers to achieve their goals. I am a huge fan of her Instagram pics (we share many beauty faves!) and her blog is beautifully curated and definitely worth a read for beauty, fashion and her travel diaries (caution: you will have a strong case of wanderlust after seeing her Bali photos!)
WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR BLOG AND IS THERE A STORY BEHIND THE NAME?
My blog name came about quite quickly, and simply incorporates my initials 'SJW' and 'FaceOf' is because I mainly focus on makeup and skincare! I actually really love how short and simple it is and love that I incorporated my initials so it has a bit of a personal touch.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING?
In mid January I celebrated my two year anniversary with all of my social media platforms and blog, which was a very exciting milestone.
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT BLOGGING?
In 2016 I deferred my University studies, but I intend on going back to University in 2017, so I currently work in retail to supplement being a student and blogger, I also interned in PR for 3 months in 2016. It's busy, but I like it that way.
HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR BLOGGING CAREER TO DATE
My highlight of blogging thus far would have to be being invited to Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week 2016, something I have admired for years, and to be invited was very special for me, just being around all the creativity was so inspiring.
TOP 5 MAKEUP / BEAUTY PRODUCTS YOU'D BE LOST WITHOUT
Laura Mercier Translucent Powder: A much hyped powder that keeps my base flawless without looking cakey, with normal to oily skin powder is a must.
Pur Cosmetics Cameo Contour Duo: A more recent discovery, but a gorgeous cream highlight and contour that sculpts the face in the most natural way.
Hourglass Dim Light Ambient Lighting Powder: Good skin in a powder, lightly dusted over the face and gives the face the most natural glow and softest appearance.
Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation Stick: I'm a little obsessed with foundation sticks, and this is the best of the bunch, a natural finish with build able coverage, and a huge shade range.
Young Blood Illuminating Palette: Cream highlight that I love to apply under foundation and again on top of foundation before powdering, such a natural glow to the skin (there's a definite theme of glow & natural here).
YOUR SKINCARE SAVIOURS
Skinstitut Gentle Cleanser: A gentle cleanser that removes every inch of makeup, but doesn't dehydrate or aggravate my skin, heaven of an evening.
LanoLips 101 Multi Balm: I love these as little lip balms with my favourite begin the 'Peach', I always have dry lips, so these are a must have in my bag or car always.
Obagi Medical Hydrate Luxe Moisture Rich Serum: My all time favourite moisturiser, too intense for day time wear, but I use this as a luxe night cream that makes my skin feel oh so very soft.
BLOGS YOU LOVE TO READ + FOLLOW
Lion In The Wild (Kiara King): Such incredible personal style mixed in with travel, lifestyle along with some beauty and skincare.
Rachel Beauty Style: A good friend of mine from blogging who I have nicknamed 'Mum' because she looks after me, but Rach has such an incredible dedication to her blog while working full time. Consistently posting new content on her website, and I just adore her.
BLOGGERS YOU ADMIRE
Chloe Morello: I was lucky enough to meet Chloe and she has such an incredible sense of humour, and I adore her personal style.
Kathleen Lights (Fuentes): Kathleen has had so many incredible opportunities from her vlogging career and has an incredible personal experience with her viewers, somebody who has remained humble and herself through out.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE LOOKING TO BECOME A BEAUTY BLOGGER
Start now, there is a saturation of the market as far as 'Beauty Bloggers' goes, so best be quick. Also, make sure you're starting for the right reasons, there is a lot of work behind the scenes the people do not realise, and you will quickly drop off if you're not truly passionate.
