I love getting my hair done. It's the perfect excuse for some me time and a chance to relax while the professionals turn my hair dreams into reality.

As someone who is on Instagram a lot I see a lot of different salons and one which kept popping up was Edwards and Co. I had been stalking their page and was impressed by the quality of their work and how lovely their clients looked so I decided to book in for a much needed colour, cut and treatment at Edwards and Co Alexandria.

Situated upstairs in the business park, I walk in and I'm immediately welcomed with a well lit, beautiful space with white walls, tall ceilings and luxe fixtures. I am greeted at reception and escorted upstairs to a loft which has a large marble top table with the latest magazines - an IG flat layers dream! I grab the latest issue of The Collective and settle in.

First I have a colour consult and talk about what I want. While I normally experiment with colour this time it is all about getting my hair nice and healthy. So we opt for a dark brown colour, Olaplex treatment and get to work. Unlike other salons the colour is applied at the table I am sat at making it a really relaxed and comfortable experience and so you can continue to chill while the masters are at work. I order a black tea which is brought in a traditional cast iron tea pot and pour it into the beautiful blue and white marble ceramic cup and let the processing begin.

As I look around I admire the wall art which consists of a giant pink flamingo, cactus and a man carrying a watermelon on his head - the only pop of colour in this bright, light filled monochrome loft. The wash basins to my left and the shelves above are stacked with giant bottles of Oribe and Kevin Murphy products which I absolutely love so I knew I was in the right place.

After 25 minutes I get my hair rinsed and the sweet smell of Olaplex fills the room as I get a much needed treatment. That cooks for 15 minutes and I head back to the table to finish my tea. I then get a toner applied to lock the colour in, rinse off and head downstairs for a cut.

Downstairs is just as gorgeous as upstairs! Tall mirrors line the wall for clients to sit at. To the right is the product and hair tools station and behind that is a communal desk where people are busy working on their laptops. Natural light streams through the floor to ceiling windows and lush greenery and ferns fill the room giving it a fresh, earthy feel. It's such a clean, open and inviting space, naturally I daydream about the selfie light potential!

One of the lovely girls starts cutting my hair and straight away it looks so much healthier. It was definitely overdue for a cut so once she is done and dried off I look like a completely different person! It's amazing! The result is a rich brown, textured wavy bob which looks shiny, healthy and fresh. I love it!

The service at Edwards and Co Alexandria is 5 out of 5. You're always looked after and the team are so friendly and happy to chat or let you read a magazine in peace. They definitely have your hairs health in mind too and while I had asked about highlights at the start, we agreed it was better to strengthen my hair first and look at that next visit which I was very happy to do. There is no hard product sell either, but I did get some Olaplex so I could do some at home treatments and strengthen my hair even more before my next visit.

Edwards and Co has 4 other salons in Surry Hills, Byron Bay, Budds Beach and Melbourne and if they are as nice as Alexandria they are well worth the visit.
