Believe The Hype: Thursday Plantation Oil Cleanser + Brightening Oil Review

Marisa Robinson Beauty Blogger Thursday Plantation Review

They say beauty is only skin deep and I have always believed the foundation and key to any good makeup look is a cleansed and nourished base.

A product I have been using more in the last 12 months is body and facial oils. Not only do they deeply hydrate the skin but they have amazing restorative properties and help prevent the signs of ageing, improving the skins overall appearance.

So when I was sent the new Thursday Plantation Oil Cleanser and Brightening Oil I couldn't wait to try them and see how they made my skin look and feel!

Thursday Plantation Oil Cleanser

While I cleanse my skin daily I tend to use cream or foaming cleansers more than oil cleansers. I don't personally like the feeling of oily skin while I am trying to clean it but when I read that the Thursday Plantation Oil Cleanser dissolved makeup and impurities I had to try it for myself!

Below is some information from the Thursday Plantation website as well as my thoughts and first impressions.

Thursday Plantation Oil Cleanser combines nature’s cleansing and moisturising oils to deeply cleanse the skin while supporting its protective barrier and improving its condition. This multitasking cleanser removes makeup, excess oils and impurities.

How does it work?
Thursday Plantation Oil Cleanser lifts and dissolves make up and impurities lodged in pores while leaving the skin soft, smooth and hydrated.

What’s in it and how does this benefit my skin?
CASTOR OIL

My thoughts and first impressions on the Thursday Plantation Oil Cleanser
I decided to put this product to the ultimate test to remove a full face of makeup. I was wearing stick foundation, liquid eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow - the works! You can see the look I was wanting to remove in the picture below.

I applied a few pumps onto my hands and as the packaging directed, I massaged the oil onto my face and rinsed off with warm water. As I massaged it into my face I could see the product starting to lift, some things easier than others. The foundation, blush, contour and highlighter was definitely first to move with ease but the liquid eyeliner, mascara and brows took a bit more work.

The more I massaged it in the more it started to feel less oily and more like a film over the skin. It wasn't a feeling I particularly liked but it was definitely removing my makeup. Below are a couple of shots to show the results after massaging the oil into my face before rinsing. I then started to rinse it off with warm water but no matter how much water I used my face still felt like it had a combination of oil and makeup on it. So I grabbed a face wipe and removed the remainder and my skin was clean and clear!

I definitely think for the amount of makeup I was wearing it would definitely call for a deeper cleanse in the shower using the oil with hot water and a muslin cloth. But if you were wearing minimal makeup or just wanted to cleanse the skin then I would definitely opt for the method I used.

While I am still not a fan of the film-like texture (but that's just a personal gripe and I think more a result of the amount of makeup I was trying to remove) it definitely delivered on the results it promised! My makeup came off, even my liquid eyeliner which is normally quite stubborn, and once the oil was rinsed/wiped off, my skin was clean and felt soft and smooth.

I love that this product contains all natural oils and ingredients which are not harsh or damaging to the skin. As I massaged it into my skin it was really gentle while still having powerful makeup removing results! This would be great for people with sensitive skin who can't use products with chemicals or harsh ingredients or for those who just prefer to use natural, vegan friendly products.

The next step after cleansing was to apply the Tone Correcting Brightening Oil. When I read all the amazing ingredients, properties and benefits (who wouldn't want to reduce the appearance of fine lines!) I couldn't wait to try it!

Below is some information from the Thursday Plantation website as well as my thoughts and first impressions.

Thursday Plantation Brightening Oil is a serum combining antioxidant rich and restorative oils, enriched with natural Vitamin C and E. Brightening Oil helps to restore an even complexion and protect the skin from the signs of premature ageing.

Brightening Oil helps to brighten and tone the skin, improve the appearance of pigmentation, age and sun spots and nourish the skin and reduce the appearance of small wrinkles.

Used every night, the citrus-scented oil will leave your skin feeling smooth and appear bright and glowing.

What’s in it and how does this benefit my skin?

VITAMIN C: Reduces the appearance of age spots and pigmentation.
VITAMIN E: Helps reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles.
AVOCADO OIL: Contains phytosterols to rejuvenate stressed skin and reduces the appearance of age spots caused by UV exposure.
MACADAMIA OIL: Restores the skin’s youthful glow thanks to its high content in palmitoleic acid (Omega 7).
LEMON OIL: Helps brighten the skin and reduce the signs of fatigue.

My thoughts and first impressions on the Thursday Plantation Brightening Oil
Straight after cleaning my skin I applied the Thursday Plantation Brightening Oil. After dispensing a few pumps onto my finger tips I was instantly greeted with a fresh, citrusy scent which wasn't too strong or overpowering. Then as the packaging directed I applied it onto my skin using a gentle pressing motion. This has always been my preferred way to apply oils to my skin as massaging or circular motions tends to make my skin feel more oily. I also feel like by pressing it in my skin is absorbing more of the product instead of it being wiped on/off.

You only need a couple of pumps to completely cover the face and neck but if you do disperse a bit too much just work it into your décolletage. Within five minutes the oil had absorbed into my skin leaving it feeling soft and supple. I would definitely apply this in the evening before bed so it can work its magic as you sleep and so you aren't exposed to sunlight as it can increase skin sensitivity.

I have been using this cleansing combo for the past week and my skin is already feeling softer, smoother and looking much clearer. I am definitely going to continue using this natural dream duo and will be sure to report my skins progress!
